The Full Story

Linda's artistic journey is a tapestry woven with diverse influences and experiences. Growing up on a coastal dairy farm near Mt Taranaki, she developed a deep connection to nature and her surroundings. After earning a psychology degree, Linda immersed herself in the performing arts industry, honing her skills as a performer and choreographer. As her career evolved in the film and screen industry, she discovered a passion for painting, fuelled by her work with visual imagery through the camera lens.

“My creative process is interwoven with landscapes and abstracts, a harmonious fusion that keeps my creativity in constant motion. This interplay preserves the fluidity and intuitive essence that defines my work, a testament to staying true to my artistic core.

Emerging from the depths of my subconscious, landscapes arise as echoes of memories and impressions etched over time. Each stroke of colour and form finds inspiration in the interplay of light within our natural environment and the intricate tapestry of our native bush. What captivates me is the role of psychology in perception: the interplay of light and shadow, the calculated colour palette, the use of impressionist techniques, and the delicate placement of intricate details. This orchestrated composition invites you to peel back the layers, exploring the depths of each scene.

My abstracts are a visual representation of the energy within. These pieces are a testament to unfiltered expression, where the canvas becomes a medium for untamed emotions and impulses. Drawing inspiration from my background in movement choreography and psychology, these abstracts mirror the dance of thoughts and feelings, revealing a visual map of the inner mind’s intricate steps.

Ultimately, my art isn’t just about exploration and discovery; it’s an invitation to connect. It reflects my voyage of embracing the environment, intuition, celebrating diverse expressions, and translating dreams into tangible beauty.
